LIBERATION DAY

April,25,1945.ITALY'S LIBERATION DAY(Anniversaty of the Liberation),in the country simply April,25.Commemorating the end of the nation civil war and NAZIS OCCUPATION.Everywhere in the city and in the nation plaques are visible to remeber the event.Here's the one from MONTE STELLA (star hill) by cityhall to remeber the little hill where you can view a wonderful panorama of the city,the Alps and the Apennines was made with ruins of the bombing of the II WORLD WAR.

LITTLE MADONNA

On the highest spire of the DUOMO DI MILANO you can see the LITTLE MADONNA erectced in 1762.The spire was designed by Francesco Croce,108,5m (356ft) from the ground and the MADONNINA (little Madonna) designed and built by Giuseppe Perego in 1774.No building in the city can be higher than the LITTLE BEAUTIFUL MADONNA.When the first Tower in the city was built,the PIRELLI TOWER (1956-1960) by GIO PONTI tall 127,1m (417ft) a smaller replica of the MADONNINA was placed on the top.So the LITTLE BEAUTIFUL MADONNA remains the tallest place in Milan.And in 2010 another replica was placed on the top of PALAZZO LOMBARDIA the regional governement headquarter.The Madonnina is the sibject of the international city anthem song OH MY LITTLE BEAUTIFUL MADONNA by GIOVANNI D'ANZI.The city often is called with the nickname THE CITY OF THE LITTLE MADONNA not Milan.

THE TWISTED  in the restored area of the city called CITYLIFE under costruction.Designed by ZAHA HADID,185m(607ft) with 44 floors is another useless architecture for every urban cityscape.It will be ended for the 2017.

Italy national public broadcasting company ( RAI ).Began a regular television service on 3 January 1954,broadcasted from Milan headquarter.

GALLERIA VITTORIO MANUELE II

The GALLERIA VTTORIO EMANUELE II (1865-1877).Built to covering the streets connecting two city landmarks,Piazza Duomo and Piazza della Scala.Named in Honor of the first king of the Kingdom of Italy Victor Emmanuel II.

FILARETE TOWER
